One 4.5 year old. I'm a single parent. Getting on and have fertility issues. I'm a bit sad he's going to be an only.

Thanks for your answers. His dad is having him more now (after leaving the hard work up to me for 3 years ) and tbh I'm relieved to get the break.

I think you’re entitled to grieve the family you wanted whilst also loving what you have.

I felt like this after dd was born....had secondary infertility.
She is 10 now and honestly as happy as Larry - has a lovely life with lots of friends but loves her own company too which is a great life skill.
It is ok to feel sad op - give yourself lots of time to come to terms with it but your child will be fine xx

Thanks everyone. Sometimes I think I fell into the trap of marrying, having a kid etc when I didn't really want to. So much pressure on women and I fell for it.

My mother made it clear she hated having kids. I really don't want to be the same.
