£1 at our house too, seems to be the going rate at our school. If she's late, will leave a note with an excuse. Snowstorm, flew into a tree, etc.

£2 a tooth - probably becauase they are nice coins, like gold sovereigns!

But I have forgotten my tooth fairy duties and had to make up some lie about the tooth fairy calling in sick.

When I was a kid the local going rate was 20p a tooth, my gran gave me 50p for one of my first teeth, of course I was chuffed and boasted about it at school. Result: I was punched by a big kids because he thought I was lying about getting 50P!

geminikate · 21/01/2008 11:09

lol mine only get 50p..

but the rate my Ds is losing his at the moment he must have a fair bit of savings in his piggy bank.

CountessDracula · 21/01/2008 11:10

£2 + a bag of chocoloat coin

Ours was a day late this week

Fennel · 21/01/2008 11:10

Mine get 50p and they haven't complained yet.

LadyMuck · 21/01/2008 11:14

£1 here, but the important piece of inforation is what the average is for your child's class. I'd get lynched for £2!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 21/01/2008 11:36

Ours get £1.

CD - our tooth fairy was a date late last week too. DH blamed the windy weather.

goingfor3 · 21/01/2008 11:43

£2 for the first tooth, £1 for all the others. I didn't have any cash for the last tooth and feel lucky that DD1 saves her money so just took £1 out of her piigy bank

Depends on which country we are in!

DS's first tooth fell out while we were in London for a weekend so he got a fiver as I am a softy and knew he would want tot buy something special. He bought a toy - a Black Cab.

Next one - we were in Spain on holiday. So he got 2 Euro.

Others have been here in Hungary and he gets a 500 forint note which is about 2 Euro.

It's £1 tooth here. DS1 and 2 lost three between them on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and 27th, twas a busy week what with FC on Christmas eve there were a lot of coming and goings.

Glad to see other tooth fairies are late sometimes ... our TF has had to admit to being a Trainee. Once we managed to fabricate a case about TF not making it if you don't go to bed early enough (there's a round, you see, and your tooth has to be ready for it).

Saff BE CAREFUL about writing letters from the tooth fairy - our TF has got herself totally snared - she is currently having to produce whole word-processed pages of explanation of TF-universe economics - for a nearly 9yo who is v interested in politics & stuff but at same time rather deeply unworldlywise. And who sheds pre-molars with no warning whatsoever.

It's basic £1/each in this house too, but first ones get £2, as do eyeteeth, because they HURT as I remember.

Pesha · 21/01/2008 12:07

So relieved to see we're not the only house with a forgetful Tooth Fairy!

DD was going to get 50p but I decided as I used to get 50p (although possibly only for back teeth) 20 years ago that I really should put it up to £1.

The forgetful, guilt-ridden tooth fairy brings a £2 coin and a little note apologising!

Pesha · 21/01/2008 12:13

PMSL Bink! Our TF also has a round that requires an early bed time!! And is apparently easily confused by children sleeping in their brother's bedroom.

DD seems to have accepted that the tf has approximately a 3 day window for collecting teeth. Anything outside of this would be a problem I think but within this time she doesn't worry too much, now.

Bink · 21/01/2008 12:20

It is heartening, isn't it, these non-same-day TFs.

Part of guilt is that I can't remember the TF EVER being late when I was the tooth-loser. And I was one of four-within-five-years so that there must have been almost constant TF duties. (I bet it was my Dad - he is Mr. Trustworthy.)
