Big baby?

6.5 mo was born 9lb 3oz and has grew quite rapidly!

he is a bit bigger for his age around 20/21lb he’s a cute little chunk

hes very long too! Like even a doctor said ‘tall’ for his age

I don’t feel too bad but we seen DH’s family (haven’t seen them for a few months) and people kept saying how big he is etc and I get this would be the case even if he was smaller and they hadn’t seen him in a while

but I just worried will people think I’m over feeding him? I never do if he’s full we don’t feed him anymore he’s just grown very fast x

Ds was the same birthweight. Still massive at 7 months. Everyone comments on how big he is and it's never occurred to me they might think that. I'm think big babies just tend to stay big.

Met a woman when out walking the other day who had an 18 month old and there wasn't much size difference. He is in 12-18 month clothing. We skipped 9-12 months completely. He's always had consistent growth though so I've never worried about it. He is tall like yours.

People seem really positive about it I don't think they think it's over feeding or anything. Also big babies are generally hungrier babies anyway. I wouldn't worry.

My baby was born at 32 weeks and was only 1.8kgs at birth - now at 16 months he’s nearly 12 kgs! Very tall and was/still is a great eater. My husband is tall so no doubt he will be too. The hospital are delighted that he’s come on so well - I get the ‘big baby’ comments too but I’m happy he’s so healthy. Don’t worry OP, all babies are different shapes and sizes so ignore the comments and enjoy your baby :)

Please just ignore it all. I used to get terribly upset about all the ‘chunky’, ‘beefy’, ‘little bruiser’ comments. These days, ds is a long and lean five year old. His sister was 10lbs at birth, but I just kept away from the kind of people that seek to describe the weight of your baby to you … it’s a dated way to talk about bodies and it doesn’t make anyone healthier.

DD was born at just under 7lbs and was 20/21lbs at 6 months. EBF with no bottles so only what she decided she wanted herself.

She’s now a fairly petite 2yo. Once she started crawling and walking (about 7m & 10m) she really slimmed out. Kept getting taller but not really much heavier, she’s very in proportion now. Looking back at photos she looked like a little sumo wrestler back then!

I preferred her being on the slightly larger side as an infant as when she had colds etc and went right off her food I was slightly less worried than if she’d been a little dot IYSWIM.

Just ignore the comments, there’s no way to tell if he’ll be big or small in a year or twos time.

Mine was 10lb2 at birth, is still 95th percentile for height and weight and is as big as children about a year older than him. He looks quite lean however but even if he didn't I couldn't care less what other people think as long as he is healthy!

My baby is big and tall too, born on 91st percentile but quickly went to 98th percentile for both weight and height and has stayed there since. He's 9 months old but bigger than the 14-15 month olds in our baby group. People often comment that he's big but it doesn't offend or worry me at all, I mean it's just stating the obvious really!

Mine was like this!
She really leaned out as a toddler though
She's now a slim teenager l.

Don't worry!

I get a lot of comments about my two. DD is 2y10m and weighs just under 11kg. DS is 15m and weighs just over 11kg 😂 both wear the same size clothes 18-24, but she's a few cm taller with much longer legs.

They just have completely different builds, she's a dainty little fairy and he's a sturdy wee chunk. I'd say I probably get more comments cos people either think they're twins or a super small age gap and it's more a surprise than that they necessarily think he's too big or she's too small. I'm as surprised as anyone else that I produced two such different kids, especially since DH and I are both fairly petite.

I would worry too much. With babies there's not an awful lot to comment on. With DD I used to feel really weird in the park when people would tell me how gorgeous she was. I mean she is (obv) but it just seemed strange to comment on her looks first if that makes sense? Like should I reply oh your kid is cute too? Seem to have had less of that recently actually! People are probably just making conversation. And old people love a good eater too so they'll be pleased to see a chunky baby.
