4 month old cries herself to sleep

Lately (the past week or so) my baby has been crying herself to sleep for most naps and sometimes bedtimes. I am aware of her awake times and try get her to nap after 1.5hrs of being awake. She's 18 weeks old, but only normally naps for 30-40 minutes if I'm lucky. As soon as she wakes up she is yawning.
I'm guessing she's massively overtired but I'm not sure why when I'm sticking to her wake windows?
She only naps if I walk around holding her and make the ssshhh noise, then at bedtime I normally feed her to sleep.
It's getting unbearable, she will cry for 10 minutes then fall asleep. I feel so bad for her but don't know what to do??

I didnt try to get mine into a routine till 6 months it will just stress you out.Only time i tried to get mine to sleep was at bedtime . During the day i just fed mine as needed and let her sleep as needed.Of course not letting her sleep to much so she slept at night.I found when i had a hard time getting mine to sleep.I would settle her in a vibrate chair.I found that helped then just laying her on side while rubbing her back to sleep.I also got her a comforter from home bargains.I would give her the comforter to hold while feeding .Eventually she associated it with going to sleep and comfort. It helped her sleep.

That and this music really helps

i let mine nap whenever during the day as they slept all night. At about 6 months we got a day time nap routine.

Yes it's extremely hard work. Even if you stick to awake windows etc or whatever else you're 'supposed' to do, babies just do what they do. Babies at this age want contact and most need lots of help going to sleep. Until my dd was 8 months old, I either contact napped after feeding to sleep or bounced her in the sling for every nap.

I don't really have suggestions other than to say that what you're experiencing is very normal and very hard work.

Another one here who let baby nap when she wanted during the day up until 6 months

My dd does also 'fight' sleep when she gets snoozy and has a little cry but a few bum taps and some white noise helps her to fall asleep quickly (white noise is a life saver for us)

What time does she wake up/go to sleep and how many naps does she have?
