What's hot in the world of newborn/small nappies?

Have decided on popper Bumbles for new baby but don't fancy Bimbles for the earlier days. I'm after something:
*Cotton
*with poppers or Applix
*Fleecelined or at least with a built-in fleece liner
*Not too thin in case I get another heavy wetter.
Tots Bots size 1 fit the bill but wondered if there was anything else that I don't know about?
TIA,
Liv

Tots bots size one no longer have the built in fleece liner so you'd have to go down the second hand route for those now or use a removable fleece liner.

FlameNFurter · 17/01/2008 08:55

I think you will need a removable fleece liner for most newborn ones tbh.

I still love the swaddlebees newborn just for their gorgeousness

I just want to most heartily recommend Little Lamb bamboo nappies for nighttime - I know you said cotton, but these are sooo absorbent! DD can wear hers all night (like 9pm-9am) and with an Airflow wrap I have never had a leak. It's amazing. I put in a fleece liner too to keep her bum reasonably dry... The nappies do take ages to dry, so it's worth having 4 or 5 so you can always have some drying and others in use/in the wash - they're really ideal for nighttime tho! I have some cotton LLs too but prefer my nippa Rainbow Bots.

Thanks, will have a look.
Has anyone heard anything about Thirsties? They look like they fit all my criteria but don't suppose they come up second hand much. Mind you, would be selling them on in good nick soon enough.

The swaddlebees flame mentions are lovely. Quite pricey though.

I mainly used flat terries at first but that doesn't fit your fastening needs. The other recommendation I'd have is motherease sandys (very reliable) and buy some bamboo boosters (in case of heavy wetter and for night time) and use a loose fleece liner. The bamboo boosters can then also be used with larger nappies as your lo gets bigger.

Buckets · 18/01/2008 09:49

Yeah, have used just about every type of nappy but feeling for baby no3 I just want simplicity - just 2 parts, no extra bits and bobs like liners and nippas and loose boosters.
Only thing I can see annoying about Thirsties is that Kittykins don't have agents and it would be nicer to support a self-employed mum like Flame or a local agent.

Well it's not new but I really liked the Diddy Diaper with aplix (nature babies). It's totally fleece-line and v v easy to put on. Though tbh for bf poo containment, I still prefered my size 1 tots bots.

FourPlusOne · 18/01/2008 10:24

I used small terries and snibbs on mine when newborn but that obviously doesn't fit your requirements (I did really like this combo though and it just looked so cute). Sandys are nice and the small does go up to 20lbs so you get a lot of use out of them as a small nappy - though they fit from about 8lbs so would be massive on a little newborn. I got some of my nappies through lollipop who do have agents, and they have some new types of sized nappies(fleece abmboo etc, which fit from newborn I think).
Have also been using the odd stuffable minky which are good in the night. Not sure what their small nappy weight range is though (I have a few of the bigger ones that are 18-40lbs I think). The stuffing part is quite nice and thick and absorbent but not enough for my heavy wetting DD. Fine for my DS who wets a normal amount! Have been meaning to get a couple of those thirsties too - they look lovely. Will have to get rid of a few of my other nappies first though. We have far too many!

Ooh are diddy diapers fleece lined? (shows how much I know about my stock )

I like diddy diapers i would still go for nippa though to get a better fit.

Sad
FlameNFurter · 18/01/2008 13:05

Oops - erm, Little Kiwi are doing fleece lined shaped non-quick flip nappies. I haven't been able to try them, but my mate has and she loves it

littlekiwibaby · 18/01/2008 13:08

me throw things? I would never unless you count when DH suggests nicely that I may need to do more work / clean the car / feed him dinner / tidy the garden....then he ducks lol.

Buckets · 18/01/2008 17:55

Hi Kiwilady, your Packer nappy looks good! Any chance it'll have an Applix/popper version in the next 6months?
