im 27 weeks pregnant and from around 11 weeks till 20 weeks I was very happy and content with myself etc. But since then I’ve majorly struggled with my mental health..extreme crying every day etc.
I am terrified and feel so guilty as I read that it will affect her and that it could cause her mental health problems / autism.
is this just a theory or is it true?
if I get help now could she still be a happy baby and happy person. I feel awful :(
sorry if this is rambled

No one would involve SS or judge you in any way. It’s a good thing to seek help before your baby arrives. For both of you. You deserve to be well and happy.

I cried a lot and my stress levels were through the roof while pregnant with my youngest child. She's fine, but it did apparently make my body struggle to go into labour naturally.

Please speak to your GP or midwife, also reach out to those around you. Your GP wont bat an eyelid and definitely won't involve social services, that was my biggest fear too but it was just anxiety.

And no your mental health will not in anyway damage your unborn child. I have three children and they are all well balanced, happy and healthy. Despite me being anxious and crying a lot when pregnant. Lots of mums and mum's to be suffer depression/anxiety at some point, please don't think you are damaging your baby. Baby is absolutely fine, you just think of getting yourself some help to feel better for you, this will pass. Big hugs.

Hi OP, I’m sure your baby will be absolutely fine, but it is best to ensure you are getting support to manage your mental health so that both you and baby are healthy in the long run. A baby’s health is influenced during pregnancy but ALSO massively by environment once born so there is plenty you can do to help baby’s physical and emotional health once born.

Hi,

My mental health was extremely bad when I was pregnant. This was during lockdown so I had no help at all and wasn’t on medication. It was further complicated by a very difficult pregnancy. Like you, I was worried about the effects on the baby but my son is perfectly happy and meeting all milestones. He’s actually very chilled out!

Sending loads of love x
