Baby biting nipple!

My 5 month dd is ebf and has just cut 2 teeth.
Today she has bit me 4 times whilst nursing. I don’t want to give up breastfeeding but it hurts and I’m getting nervous and tense whilst feeding her 😢

Has anyone experienced this? How long does it last? How do you stop them?

Apparently it's to do with positioning. Speak with you midwife/health visitor who will let you know the best positions

It's just teething. If you watch her carefully when feeding you'll learn to see the signs. Take her off and offer her something appropriate to chew like a teething ring. Once you can recognise the signs you'll be able to take her off before she bites. They kind of pause just before they do it. It's always when the feed is up anyway.

If she's clamped on and won't let go you can kind of pull her into you, it triggers a reflex for them to let go.

She's adjusting her mouth to the new objects in them. When she bites, smother her into your chest until she releases instead of pulling away.

My boy unfortunately thought this was hilarious at first, but he realized soon enough that he didn't like it

It is part of teething , but they do learn to not bite.

If she bites say No! Firmly and use your finger to break the latch and stop the feed. Wait a moment and then continue.

They quickly learn.

My DD did this when she got her bottom teeth at 6 months. I unlatched her everytime. It was so painful. She got out of it pretty quick.
However she's now getting her front 2 top teeth and she's started again today, it's so painful. But again, just unlatching her.
Also, trying to give her something to chew on instead before I feed her. Seems to help.

When dd was cutting her molars she used to grind back and forwards on my nipples. It hurt. Teething gel before a feed stopped it.

My 15 month old still occasionally bites me. I have to tell him not to bite the nipple that feeds him 🤣
He gets upset when I say no & put it away but still hasn’t learned - it’s great fun (not).
Its teething, say no, put it away & hopefully she will learn!

Ok thanks all. Hopefully she’ll learn pretty quick!
