Weight gaining food!

My 19 month old DS is an OK eater and is very active! I've noticed recently that his clothes seem a little loose and I mentioned this to my Mum and she noticed the same. He loves fruit and eats loads during the day. He only eats carrots and other veg when I hide it in his food. He likes baked beans, toast, spaghetti pasta, sausages, Yorkshire puddings and anything with gravy. Recently he's not eaten much of his main meals at all. Does anyone have any ideas for high fat good for you foods that might ensure he puts some weight back on? Obviously don't want to start giving him loads of junk food but I'm a little worried! Thank you! X

Avocado, bananas and pears are the obvious things. Try some natural yogurt mixed with fruit and dessicated coconut - coconut is supposed to be really fatty. Nuts are also apparently good, but obviously require a bit more caution. I like to mash banana and mix it with ground almonds when i make baby a banana sandwich

If you’re worried I’d chat to a healthcare professional, at the very least have you checked his weight and height percentiles? I’ve found that both of mine lost a lot of their baby chub around this age as they got more active and also got a lot fussier with food, I don’t think it’s that unusual. But healthy high calorie foods can be banana, avocado, whole milk, full fat yoghurt (not sugary ones though), peanut butter (can get unsweetened).

I would have a chat with the hv and get his measurements done. It could be that he's had a recent growth spurt and slimmed down a bit.

I've looked after children in the past where there has been medical advice to get more calories into them, we were advised to give full fat versions of everything, use generous amounts of proper butter and stir double cream into things like mashed potatoes and porridge.
