Chicken pox vaccine

Has any one had their baby/ toddler vaccinated against chicken pox? It’s not offered on the NHS but you can have it done privately. Offers the same immunity as if you have chicken pox in childhood. I just think it’s a good idea, no scratching, no pain, no upset, no surprise for when or if it happens. Just wondered if anyone had immunised their child from it?( but I guess excluding those who had to due to being immunosuppressed etc)

No. Chicken pox done and dusted though

It's not on the nhs and they explain why on their website

I hear there's a shortage and it's very hard to get at the mo

Yes, both done. I can’t believe so many parents who could afford to vaccinate prefer to let their children suffer even mildly with it, never mind the risks to sight etc.

It’s part of routine childhood vaccinations where I live in Canada. I don’t know any kids who have had chicken pox since the early 2000s. I was surprised when I first came across talks of nursery outbreaks on MN!
