Toddler molars - how long to get through?

My son is 2 in July and his back molars have been coming through for the last month. He's really frustrated all the time and it's making him behave destructively and impatiently (more so than normal toddler behaviour) so it's been exhausting parenting. Bless him his teeth are really sore. Does anyone know how long this lasts?

We were going to attempt potty training over the summer but I don't want to start that unless he's feeling back to normal.

I should add he's not eating and is only wanting snack type things. I assume this will pass but it's horrible when they don't want the dinner you've lovingly prepared, even when it's all soft and mushy to help their teeth! He's normally a big eater but I think is so worried anything will hurt his teeth.

Hi, I can't answer your question unfortunately but just wanted to say that my daughter is 2 in July and is going through something similar. We saw the dentist a few weeks ago who said my daughter's gums were swollen so top molars on the way but no sign of them yet. She rarely naps at the moment and has days where she won't eat much at all and just wants milk. She also gets frustrated easily and it feels like everything is a battle at times! Hopefully she will be a bit happier once the molars are through.

Took about a week. Are you sure it's teeth? What pain relief are you giving?

Yes can see all of them protruding. Calpol.

Ibuprofen is better for teething than paracetamol, and anbesol liquid numbs instantly, it's fantastic.

Great, thank you! I will try those

Echo the ibuprofen and anbesol - it was a game changer for us. Our eldest was teething for months then got 6 (!!) through at once, at the 12 month review it was commented that he had "more teeth than they'd ever seen" for the age and had all of the baby teeth by 19 months. It definitely varies by child, we were teething almost constantly for about 14 months but then we were also done ridiculously early.
