Hello everyone! My baby is 7 weeks. Since a week she has been struggling with wind. I give her infacol before every feed and try to make her burp after every feed by straight away putting her up. She used to be fine. However since a week she is struggling to fart and to poo. She is crying and pulling her legs up. As soon as she has got poop out she is more calmed down. She is not constipated as her poop is not solid. She has been crying on the breast since then as well. She is so sleepless. She wakes up due to the pain. We have tried gripe water for two days. We have been to the gp who confirmed she has got wind and he said whe shouldnt use gripe water or colief. Only infacol. I told him it doesn't help but he said to lnly stick to infacol. I dont know what to do anymore😔

Are you doing massage and bicycle legs?

Similar to bicycle legs, hold both feet and push the legs (knees bent) up and round in a clock wise motion. Another one is to sit them on your knee, facing away from you and with their chest & chin resting against your arm/hand for support. With your other hand against their back, move them around forwards and backwards in a clockwise motion.

I found these actions worked well for mine.

Good luck!

It's a newborn. Having wind is part and parcel of being a small baby that can't mobile properly, is having to digest food. It will ease up by 3 or 4 months.

My baby has not been sleeping since 2 o clock. She falls asleep and wakes up after 2 minutes. She wants to feed all the time or she cries. I seriously dont know what to do... her eyes are kind of res due to no sleep.

Is she sleeping lying flat? Pop her in a sling or a carrier and pat her firmly on the back until your arms get tired. Should help dislodge wind either up or down.

She cries if I take her of my breast...

Babies do cry! They have no other way of communicating. What are you trying to soothe her? Slings really do work.

twoandcooplease · 25/06/2022 21:59

What are you dressing her in? Keep anything with a waistband off her, so vests/babygrows only
Keep on with the infacol and bicycle legs

Did you get anywhere? I'm experiencing the exact same as you at the moment so any tips/reassurance would be great :) tysm

Two things
If you drink fennel tea it may help dc to release wind
If baby is not positioned correctly at the breast she may be sucking in air so it might be helpful to get a breastfeeding support person to have a look. La Leche League mums are good but you may know others as l live outside the UK

junebirthdaygirl · 12/10/2022 20:30

Also look at your own diet in case something you are eating is causing extra wind.

Hey! How old is your baby? Here in the uk we got told she has got wind and to only use infacol which never helped! She could not do her poop and cried so much even though she was not constipated. We went on holiday to turkey and went to the doctors there and it turned out our daughter had an intestinal infection plus wind! We got prescribed some medicine and some drops and she got much better straight away! Now she is nearly 23 weeks and is doing well.
How old is your baby? And are you breast or bottle feeding?

Fennel tea and dentinox really helped my baby who had colic.

ISeeTheLight · 12/10/2022 20:41

This sounds like DD was who was eventually diagnosed with CMPA (Cows milk protein allergy). Try going dairy free. You may also need to go soya free (but try dairy free first for a few weeks as soya+dairy free is much harder).

Also join the CMPA support group on FB, there's the main group and the breastfeeding group. Very helpful.

Stop giving infacol as this may make it worse.

Could also be a combination with silent reflux (if she doesn't like lying flat), in which case you'll need medication potentially.

Baby is 4 Weeks and only these past couple of days is he the exact same - not constipated either! Currently breastfeeding and feel like I'm doing it constantly as I burp him which wakes him up, then he wants feeding to settle again. He is sleepy but then cries with his eyes shut in pain until he is fully awake. The other concern is his lack of sleep, he's been awake most of the day (probably got 2 hours in since 6am) poor lamb. Doctor wasn't concerned.

The only thing that worked with ours was time. It was significantly better by about 12 weeks. Sometimes their little digestive systems just need more time to mature.

Niomiowen · 07/03/2024 14:59

Contains poop photo
can anyone tell me if this is normal for a 3 day old please? He’s started being reluctant to take a feed and is having loads of poos a day that pass with wind that all look like this. Just worrying about dehydration or allergies. Thanks in advance
