Has anyone had a baby just not be interested in moving?

My DD is 10 months and not in the slightest bit bothered about getting around or exploring. If I put her on her tummy she just sits herself back up even though she can crawl, she mostly wont.

She can pull herself up and likes standing and is starting to cruise but if there is nowhere to climb close by she will literally just sit there watching the world go by until someone picks her up.

All her little friends are dashing around so it's a little disconcerting!!

Anyone else had a baby like this?

10 months is still early. One of mine walked on her first birthday - after the party when everyone had gone home. Other babies in my circle were a few weeks after her.

Try not to get too bothered about keeping up with your friends’ babies. All babies usually get there in their own good time. If you are worried about their development progress talk to your HCPs.

Once they start walking - you’ll be enjoying lots of extra exercise keeping up with them 😂

Yep. Really cheerful, content baby with no interest in moving- very pleased with life as it was! He is now running around 5 year old with no issues at all, good gross motor skills etc. I wouldn’t worry if it seems lack of motivation rather than weakness but speak to HV if unsure.

Yes, it was great. She's 5now and totally normal, if still rather inclined to demand table service 😏

Dc2 was very active and it was awful, always pulling him away from danger. You are lucky!

Yes! DS1 was like that. He bum shuffled a bit at 11 months, crawled a bit at 12 and walked at 14. He's 4 and pretty active now. DS2 was crawling at 6 months and walking at 10 so I think it's just their personality.

Ok this is good to know!! We are on holiday at the moment and when we booked it I kind of assumed she would be in to everything by the time we went but actually she can be plonked on the terrace with her toys and she is happy as Larry - a blessing really !

Make the most of it - once she starts exploring you won't be able to take your eyes off her.

Seriously though my eldest was 21 months before she walked - ok she has some muscle issues but even without that diagnosed at that stage noone was interested till 22 months. It's tough as a parent watching others reach milestones ahead of yours but she will get there.

(If you want to tease her stand her with you on one side of a room and position dad/grandma whoever 3-4m away with chocolate buttons and tell her if she wants them she has to walk to get them.... worked with both of mine once theybwere confidently standing)

Yes. As he’s got older I’ve realised he’s a very content and focused person. He’s quite althletic, but not a fidget at all
