Am I oversensitive or is this oversensitive?

So, I've always been a massively oversensitive person and have worked incredibly hard on it over the years, especially since having kids. I really don't want them to pick up on it or end up with the same issues, I want them to be much more emotionally resilient than their neurotic mother!

DD1 is 2.5 and I'm aware that being 2 is tough and there's a lot of normal sensitivity that comes with that, but I need a bit of a reality check as to what is standard and what isn't. Screaming fits because the banana is broken or the plate is the wrong red, that's all normal, right?

What about stuff like wanting me to fast forward parts of the Disney Cinderella cartoon because a character is "too shouty"?? Does that sound normal? I've completely lost my bearings here! She's just started being able to express big emotions without tantrums, and we're noticing a fair bit of empathetic sadness, which is a cool developmental thing but is making me nervous, as a person who has always had problems not taking on other people's problems!

In my experience totally normal behaviour for a young toddler.

mine cries over everything. Has a mini meltdown if I give them the wrong colour cup or if I give them crisps in a bowl when they wanted a plate.

such a joy

It’s the time you perfect counting to 10 and saying breezily oh dear , never mind, let’s do something else!! They do change!

Sorry, to clarify, I'm not worried about the broken banana/wrong cup stuff, more the empathetic sadness - she gets very upset when characters on TV are upset, or if someone seems sad in real life.

V normal IME. We couldn't sing a particular nursery rhyme for about 18 months b/c it reduced her to a sobbing mess
