Another maternity leave

I have a 4 year old and an 18 month old and want to try for number 3. I started this job pregnant then had 11 months off and I'm planning to have been back 14 months before ttc. It was an internal transfer so I had been working there for 4 years already. Thing is they don't cover maternity and it takes so long to train/develop. Although I'm qualified my actual skills are only a small part of the job. I still feel like an imposter and may still be feeling like that when I go on mat leave and when I come back. I guess I'm worried about letting them down and worried that I will still need support and development when I return and won't get it due to bad feelings from my manager. Should I suck it up or find a new role as I will only want 1 maternity leave from a new job rather than the 2 I will have had here. I'm planning on 9 months off. I can't leave it any later as I'm already 36.

You'd be bonkers to change jobs just before getting pregnant.

When you say "they don't cover maternity" what does that mean?

HSKAT · 19/06/2022 10:43

I agree it's bonkers.

Why do you have bad feelings with your manager?

Everyone needs some sort of training when they return from mat leave so I wouldn't worry about that.

Don't cover maternity, do you mean they don't get someone in on maternity cover?

Itstooearlyforme · 19/06/2022 10:56

Yes that's right. They don't get someone in to cover for maternity leave.

Bad feeling because of starting pregnant and having another maternity leave whilst still early into the role.
