Baby in travel cot

Hi
I am in Greece with my 5 month old daughter and she is sleeping in a travel cot. I am absolutely terrified of the thought of her suffocating and it's stopping me from sleeping Sad
The mattress is not firm or breathable like the snuzpod we have at home. She likes to sleep on her side and sometimes her nose gets so close to the mattress.
Should I hold her all night? Or watch her??
If she goes onto her face it will be awful Sad

Can you safely co-sleep in your bed?

Don't hold her, too risky that you'll fall asleep in a more dangerous position.

Is there a firmer mattress under the soft one? All travel cots I've used have a really hard base mattress and anything else is a topper that could be removed...

Is the mattress tight to the side - no gaps?

tulus · 14/06/2022 21:39

I'm on a single bed so can't co sleep otherwise I would Sad

That's interesting about the topper. She's asleep in there now so haven't checked.

There aren't visible gaps but the mattress is loose in there if you see what I mean. I can feel gaps down the side

Under the mattress is just the base of the cot. It just feels like wood

Okay so I just checked and the villa actually gave us a cot with a folded blanket as the mattress with a sheet on top

I'd sleep on the single mattress on the floor with her if you're worried

BaaCake · 14/06/2022 21:53

Can she roll yet?

I think this might be best too

The base of my travel cot is also the actual mattress. Minimal padding and taking the whole "firm flat surface" to the extreme. I bought a baby appropriate topper but also DD was closer to 1 when we used it so felt safer.

If she'll happily sleep on the firm base then do that as it will make you feel happier.

It felt too unsafe for me and I couldn't risk it so I've put her on the single bed with no sheets or anything etc. in her sleep bag and I'm on the other single bed. DP is on the cold stone floor Shock

@BaaCake
She's only rolled once but other than that she gets stuck on her arm but her face turns into the floor
