Reusable swim nappies

To those who have used these before, what happens when toddler soils their reusable swim nappy when you're at the beach/pool on holiday but out for the day? How do you store that nappy for the rest of the day before getting back to clean it? 😬 we're using tots bots.

Empty the potents into a nappy bag, and bin that. Then rinse the nappy in the showers (if possible) and put in a second nappy bag to keep separate from the rest of your stuff

Wet bag like you get for normal reusable nappies?

Just something like this would work: www.bambinomio.co.uk/products/wet-bag

We always use 2 swim nappies - a disposable and then a reusable (like happy nappy) over the top. If child poos in it then bin the disposable and the happy nappy is still ok. If just wees then dry it out and use again.

FWIW I heard that cold water can make babies poo but it has never ever happened, DD hasn’t ever pooed while swimming

Shake the solids down the loo and flush, then wipe with loo roll. Then just pop into a nappy bag or wet bag until you get home. I prefer not to rinse when out so you aren't carrying a sopping wet nappy about.

You would rinse a soiled nappy in public showers? Please correct me if I'm wrong/missing something but surely that's quite disgusting!

But the nappy is sopping wet from being in the pool anyway….?! Surely it’s better to have a wet nappy than a wet pooey nappy?

RandomQuest · 14/06/2022 14:14

I thought the point of those is that you also use a disposable swim nappy and the reusable is an extra layer of protection, it’s requirement of a lot of swim schools to use both and practically it makes sense too. If you just have the reusable and they do use it then you don’t have anything else for the rest of the day and you’re stuck with a dirty nappy on the beach.

Mommabear20 · 14/06/2022 14:19

@WhyNott only if at the beach and no toilets near by! Absolutely not in a swimming pool type place with toilets!

Ah, I get you now 😁 the thought of showering after a nice pool swim where a nappy has just been rinsed was a bit grim 🤢. This is why you ask the question rather than jumping to conclusions! Happy nappy rinsing 😂

Ah yes . . . In which case rinse away. Halfway through my post I forgot it was a swimming nappy!

shivawn · 14/06/2022 19:40

@RandomQuest This. We always use both and I just thought that was the done thing!

mrsfoof · 14/06/2022 21:56

Swim nappies should only really be worn in the water as they don't absorb wee so are quite useless on dry land. None of my children ever pooed in the pool, but if they do, either wrap nappy and deal with the contents at home or empty it into a loo at the beach / pool and then wrap to wash at home. If you're spending a whole day at the pool / beach, take more than one swim nappy.

You can get reusable inner nappies (basically just pants) which go under the happy nappy.
