Pre school teacher saying dd wets herself when I pick her up.

It's been said a few times that she asks who picks her up and they say mummy and she wets herself. Am I being oversensitive in thinking they're insinuating she doesn't want to come home with me? She is the happiest the little girl and we are very close.

Or she thinks you will come sooner if she does.

Maybe because she's excited? Mine tend to wet themselves more often when they're excited.

Nursery teacher here - it sounds to me like they are telling you what happens. Presumably so you can work through a way to tackle this.

Does she wet herself when daddy collects her?

Lottiebugz22 · 13/06/2022 18:54

Yes she did and he was told its a sign of a stressed child by the same teacher. We discussed it with the manager and she assured us that it was probably worded wrongly but with her saying it quite frequently I've felt as if she's insinuating my daughter isn't happy at home which isn't the case at all. And I so hope she is just "informing" and that I'm being oversensitive.

I’d guess she has already wet herself before she asks, and it’s more’ who’s going to deal with this’. She s probably happy to hear it will be you

I wouldn't rule it out, to be honest. My DD definitely only has accidents when she's upset or anxious about things.

I would be more concerned with finding a solution to the problem than assuming they were judging you.

Well, what are they doing to make sure she goes to the loo so this doesn't happen? Sounds like she might just be holding it and then relaxing a bit when she knows it's time to leave? I think it's a bit much for them to be insinuating anything more. At my daughter's preschool, especially during the first few weeks, almost every child used to come out with wet pants in a poly bag!
