We are on holiday and dd fell hit her head on a step and has a 1.5 inch gaping gash on forehead. The hospital we took her to stitched it.

please tell me this is going to be ok. Myself and my husband Are in bits. Dd seems well enough although obviously very sore.

Any experiences of this? Any tips to ease her pain and scarring?

She keeps rolling onto her front in her sleep and getting so distressed. We have her on our bed atm to keep an eye on her.

any words of comfort so appreciated. I can’t wait to get home 💔

Painkiller for the discomfort and rose hip oil when the wound is healed.

It’s such a shock, isn’t it. You haven’t broken her though, she will recover well. Try to soothe your own nerves now.

If it’s any consolation, my DS did something very much like that at a similar age, and he’s now in his late teens and very healthy, but I still remember the horror very vividly! He has a faint scar on his forehead, that’s all. At that age they heal quickly. The hospital must be satisfied that she’s ok if they didn’t keep her in. It was the first of his many little accidents 😁

Ordinary painkillers will keep her comfortable and she’ll be feeling better very soon. Try not to worry too much.

Cuts to the head look worse than they are. Dd2 was hit by a seesaw thing in the park, right on the forehead - it was awful, blood everywhere, I thought she'd fractured her skull, there'd be concussion and all sorts. Took her to A&E, by the time they saw her it had clotted nicely, didn't even X-ray, just felt it a bit, slapped a piece of tape over it and said she'd be fine. She was fine. She is fine. Hope your little one is fine too!

Awful isn't it? But honestly they recover very quickly. She will probably have a faint scar once it heals. You will remember it for far longer than she will!
