Does anyone have any particular ones they recommend?

Ds is growing up speaking English at home, but will receive all education in 2nd language where we live

I would like to start looking out for flash cards, books, games to help him eventually learn to read in English at home as well.

Alphablocks and Numberblocks on the TV are very good as they teach children in phonics (sounding out the word ) and have good songs and characters.

Thanks.
We can’t get Uk tv channels, but I assume they are available via YouTube or similar
Are the on CBeebies usually?

My dc loved Letterland and you can get all sorts of Letterland-themed stuff on Amazon

I agree with number blocks and alphablocks.

Look at the read, write, inc programme. You can buy parent packs, set 1, set 2 and set 3 from Amazon. You can also buy the black and white thinner paper versions of the reading books on Amazon. They also have videos on youtube explaining the program.

Alpha locks, number blocks, reading eggs the app is amazing though I find the UI tricky the kids soon get the hang of it.
orchard toys March and spell is a good game.
Usborne do a box set of early readers that are more interesting than Biff, chip and kipper though those are great too.
Do letter hunts where you lay letters out and the kids run to find them. Silly soup is a popular game too.

Sing
"We're making lots of silly soup
We're making soup that's silly
We're going to put it in the fridge
To make it nice a chilly"
Do a stirring action and then they can pretend to put ingredients in all starting with the same sound, or you can use a bowl and spoon and send them off to find things." You can move up to rhyming things etc.

If you have a printer, you could also consider a twinkl subscription, they often do free trial periods.
Letterland looks great, going to look into that!
