ds has been dry since oct and apart from a week of accidents (around my last mc) he has done fantastically well.

the last 3 nights he has woken up to tell me he needs a wee and his nappy has been completely dry in the morning. he is 3 in april, should i just bite the bullet and take away his nappies and prepare for lots of washing, or carry on as we are for a while longer?

I'd take them off him. You will have a couple of accidents I'm sure, but it sounds like he's ready! Have you go a matress protector you could put on, just in case?

Just looked at that again. Not 3 until April? That's really good!

ditto MaureenMLove. If it all goes pearshaped and he wets the bed every night for 2 weeks then you put the nappy back on. But I bet he won't. He sounds very ready to me.

DS was dry in the day at 2.3 but we didn't stop using night time nappies until he was 3. No idea why as he would have been fine months before.

DD (2.3) is dry at night really, but we are still using nappies. I think it's because she is generally a bad sleeper and as she is getting better at the moment, I don't want anything to spoil it.

I'd suggest trying your DS without nappies - sounds like he is ready.

DD was dry for ages, but didn't want to give up the nighttime nappies. In the end she was getting cross with them being uncomfortable, so she went without. Entirely her decision, and (tempting fate now), no accidents.

he does tell me that he doesnt want his nappy on anymore...

I would try it without, sounds like he may be ready.
dd was older, but she didn't potty train properly until nearly 3. She decided she didn't want them anymore, and we've not had many accidents since.
