How to find a babysitter

Hi all,
I am a single mum to four beautiful children. My eldest three have the same dad and see him regularly but my youngest does not have a father involved. My youngest is 2 years old. I work part time and he goes to nursery.

i would like to start an evening hobby. My three eldest can go to their dad during this time but I have nobody to watch my baby. I don’t really have any friends I could ask and only have my sister who has her hands full with my niece and being 6 months pregnant.

How does everyone find a babysitter? I could ask on local Facebook but I am a bit unsure about inviting a stranger into my house to look after my son. Any suggestions?

I have 4 kids and they don’t see their dad so I don’t go out as not happy to use a babysitter if I don’t know them personally but as you are then there are sites for this like sitters.co.uk and childcare.co.uk I would NOT ask on Facebook 😣

Childcare.co.uk will help find some local sitters.

You can also ask at nursery. Some allow their staff to babysit in their own time. The advantage is that it is someone known to your son.

Hi
I found someone at my sons nursery who did babysitting. That way you know they are DBS checked and have had first aid training. My sons three so I also paid her to come for an hour to play to make sure she was suitable. Sounds a bit controlling now Im writing it but I need to trust someone before I can leave them with my kids. I would ask at their nursery. Good luck

I did think about asking at the nursery but wasn’t sure how to word it. I don’t want to make it awkward.

Just ask at the nursery. Approach the manager to find out if they 'allow' it and then if so, ask if they can advertise to their staff on your behalf or whether you can approach individual staff members.

Sitters.co.uk is always an easy win. Downside is a quarterly fee, but big upside is all their sitters are ex-teachers/from child care backgrounds.

I use sitters.co.uk
They're interviewed, reviewed and DBs checked
