Play ideas/ Day Routine ideas for 11-12 week old

Hi Guys

Hope everyone’s keeping well. Just after some inspiration for play ideas and to see what other peoples routines were for babies around 12 weeks or so.

Pop DS on the playmat and he’s started watching Miffy and Olaf, which he loves. Other than that I’m a bit lost, he has quite a few toys but I feel like he’s not really big enough for them yet or does that not matter. Feeling like a bit of a snorosaurus at the moment, poor guy!

TIA xxx

12 weeks, don’t pressure yourself for a routine! Sleep cuddles nappy change and repeat!

Put him in the pram and go and do what you want to do? This was largely my routine, particularly with my youngest who just got dragged along to various activities that my eldest wanted to go to.

At 3 months old, I don't think much holds their attention for longer than 30 minutes if you're lucky. Some tummy time, some toys on the play mat, a bit of time in the bouncy chair and maybe some nursery rhymes and a story would be enough in rotation to get through a day.

They don't need anything at this age. Playmat is good, lots of walks in the pram, talk, read, sing to him. Do things that YOU enjoy, because soon he will dictate much of what you do with your time and you'll yearn for the days when you could wander round a museum with him asleep in the pram, or binge watching a Netflix series on a cold rainy day while he kicks on his mat.

Oh phew, Thank you 🥰 I did think I might be projecting my boredom on to him a little. I guess they’re still just taking everything in💕xxx

Probably a bit still young but DS and DD's favourite is an emergency foil blanket. Just pop them on a mat on their back and let them rustle away. Also can be good for tummy time.

Also both loved a Helium balloon at this age, loosely tied around their wrist with a short ribbon and must be supervised at all times!

Both of these I only do for around 10 mins as otherwise it is too stimulating for them.

But as per PP, you don't hugely need to play at this age, cuddles are great and they will love to explore your face with their hands or a walk in the pram is plenty of excitement.

Not that I’m bored of him, oh god that sounded awful. I mean me thinking he may be bored 😅 xxx

My little boy is 13 weeks old and is happiest when lying on his nappy mat kicking his little legs. We also have a sensory box for him with feathers, scarves, rattles, ribbons, balloons etc and he enjoys looking at those. Try not to worry too much at this age though, they’re usually quite happy just looking around and taking it all in aren’t they?

My baby is 4 months, when he was 12 weeks he liked being carried around, black and white pictures, tummy time, play gym with lights and music and being in our arms. All for a very short period of time. It's a time where he was mostly eating, sleeping, pooping and crying lol

You're doing just fine, do not worry!

Cut the screens, totally unnecessary at this age, and just talk to him. Show him stuff. Do chores and chat.
