As the title says which electrical breast pump is the best? Thank you in advance 👍🏻

This thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for an electric breast pump, we’ve recently updated our best breast pumps article with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

I got a hands free pump from Amazon for about £50 which I have found amazing. I have a manual and this one and this one gets an extra ounce (two from a morning pump) per session. Plus it's very handy- just pop it into your bra and get on with your day.

I haven't tried other electric pumps so can't comment

See if you can borrow one first to try and see how you get on with it before spending loads - you should be able to borrow from hospital/HV or children's centre, depending on area.

I bought a medela swing which was fine for occasional use, and helped me move from formula top ups when we were struggling in the first couple of weeks.

I bought one of these www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B097TCM9WK/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_BMKQA67BQWZRDHNSS48C?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21
So much easier than being tied to a plug socket and gets about the same.

If you are exclusively pumping or need help increasing supply you will probably want something closer to a hospital grade pump, but for the odd bottle I found both of the above fine.

Highly, highly depends what you want it for. The ‘best’ breast pump for expressing the odd bottle for a 6 month old will be completely different to the best pump for expressing around the clock for a newborn in NICU, for example.

Thank you for all the replies

I’m 5 days postpartum and baby doesn’t want to breastfeed so I need an electrical pump. Bought a manual one which doesn’t really work so was advised to buy an electrical one. @AliceW89

In your case then I'd talk to your MW about borrowing/hiring a hospital grade double pump. You'll need to be using it a lot at this point to stimulate supply so you want something that can be used often and which is efficient. Depending on why your baby doesn't want to - latch problem? Sleepy baby? Are they prem? they may be able to start BFing direct eventually so you'd only need it for a bit.

I had a hospital grade Medela which I used in hospital, then they let me bring the milk parts away with me and I could use them with a secondhand Medela.

I exclusively pumped for 9 days using the Lansinoh double electric (whilst awaiting tongue tie division - following the tie release baby went straight on the breast and I only used the pump again occasionally to donate milk). It was a super little pump for short term use. For longer term I’ve heard good things about the Ardo calypso.
Definitely seek support to try and get baby feeding directly (if this is your goal) as it will save you hours of washing up and the double work of pumping!
