Need to clamp down on DD1's entrepreneurial habits

I found DD2 (aged 7) taking money out of her money box today. She explained that she was giving it to DD1 (aged 10) in exchange for being allowed to borrow one of her Nintendo DS games. DD1 was charging her 25p for 10 minutes!
Obviously I made DD1 give back all the money (poor DD2 would have been bankrupt within a couple of hours) and explained that despite the apparently unlimited earning potential of her enterprise it was socially irresponsible in the extreme.
Not sure it sunk in though!

Can you add some charitable giving routines into your schedule?
I wouldn't worry about it too much....it's pretty normal sibling behavior...doesn't indicate your dd will be ungenerous in life.

LOL that's really clever! Cheeky kid lol lol

I'm sure she is just being a typical 10 yr old and it will sink in eventually

Yeah, don't worry until she starts wrapping up DD2's old toys as next year's Christmas presents. My nephews were so "generous" they even wrapped up dirty socks for eachother!

Start charging her for doing her laundry/cooking her meals, etc. She will soon get the message

It gets worse. She has this 'friend' who has older sisters and is generally more sophisticated and materialistic. On the way home from school yesterday they were walking behind me and I heard the friend talking about how she loved going shopping and what her favourite shops were and how much things cost in them.
When we got home DD1 announced that she wanted to sell her old toys and books on Ebay so she had money to go shopping. We had a look at Ebay together and she realised she wouldn't get very much money for what she wanted to sell, but I don't know where to go from here. She gets £1 a week pocket money which she generally saves up until she has enough to buy a DS game or something and I give her money to go swimming with her friend on a Sunday morning and buy a hot chocolate afterwards. I knew I would have to rethink this in September when she starts secondary school but I don't know where to start. What do others do?
