How to stop leaking nappies?!

3 nappy explosions, 3 outfits and 1 bath later (all in 1 day!), I've had enough of poop squirting out the side and top of nappies. Please give me your nappy hacks! I'm exhausted!

(I always make sure they're on properly, they're the right size and pull the frills out)

Have you tried different brands? Some brands of nappies suit some babies more than others, there are slight differences in size and fit.

Use reusables (they are elasticated around the waist so tend not to leak).
If if that's not your thing, buy a reusable nappy wrap to use over the disposables. You wouldn't need loads as they dry really quickly. Something like this:

two part reusables would be your friend here! Something like tots boys bamboozle with a motherease airflow wrap on top.
but if you don’t want to do reusables just buy a few motherease airflow wraps. They keep EVERYTHING contained and I’ve never ever had a poo explode out of one. Fell out with disposables due to the poo explosions (and also the environmental impact too)

Yes, we never had a single poo leak with reusables but before we switched got poonamis frequently with disposables!

The nappy cover idea is a good one.

ShirleyPhallus · 25/05/2022 20:15

i found the more expensive the worse the nappy was - pampers were so leaky!

I ended up really liking the Tesco very cheap ones, never had a poo explosion with those

sugarcoatedsp · 25/05/2022 20:19

Check the leg ruffles are all out, if they tuck in you get poop sneaking out

Ineedmorestones · 25/05/2022 20:22

I saw a tip that suggested folding a little bit over at the back of the nappy. Never tried it but supposed to help with poonami’s.

This.
i confess to being too lazy for reusable cloth nappies but we do have a small stash including these Flip wraps. They work a treat for containing leaks if you put them over a disposable.

canyoutoleratethis · 25/05/2022 20:24

Is your little one in vests? Because if the vest is too short in the length, that can cause a poo leak by not giving enough space for the nappy to sag (and therefore contain the poo). Might be worth sizing up?

linerforlife · 25/05/2022 20:25

I genuinely think you have to try a few and see what works for you. I used the more eco nappies for a while and was so worn down by every poo requiring a full outfit change, the car seat being ruined by poo leaks etc - but then found that Aldi and pampers never leaked for us.

DSGR · 25/05/2022 20:26

We tried various brands and found only Pampers didn’t leak

Assistanttotheregionalmanager · 25/05/2022 20:27

Always found asda ones good for this issue.

Anotherdayanotherdisappointment · 25/05/2022 20:34

Reusables. Bomb proof.

DockOTheBay · 25/05/2022 20:40

Agree with reusable nappies. Never had a leak from our totsbots bamboozle.

csectionmummas · 25/05/2022 20:42

Seems like different babies (and therefore the different poo they create!) withstand different nappies. We found aldi were by far the best. Tried 3 different reusables but they leaked like mad and all gave him bad skin!

Sbena · 25/05/2022 21:58

Only 3 lol. When we used an activity chair the poop would sploosh up his back - one day there were NINE poops and nine overflows.

Sometimes it can be fitted right but there's too much to contain. My boy had a phase when he was in size 2s when they would always leak. It passes.

PurBal · 25/05/2022 22:11

Definitely reusables
