Baby clothes sizing from shops

Hello, my son is 10 months and he's a chunky baby. He's in 9-12 month clothes but the tshirts are a bit snug on his belly and it's impossible to find trousers/leggings that fit his thighs! Everything feels skin tight on the poor baby. He's in Next, H&M and M&S clothes which I thought were roomier. Any other brands that are good for baggier 9-12 month clothes? Or if I go up to 12-18 months, what shops come up small? Hoping to do a shop on Vinted for second hand bits.

Thanks!

Frugi is good for roomy clothes - they're designed around cloth nappies.

John Lewis seem a generous size on the 9-12 vest I bought recently.

i have some tops from united colours of Benneton that seem roomier than most at 9-12 also nutmeg clothing seems to be pretty forgiving

My son has always been bigger for his age. I found tesco came up small so I used those as transition clothes until my son fitted better into more variety of the next size up. Equally I found matalan a good fit for his age size and friends found them too big.

Thanks, I was thinking about JL too!

That's a really good shout! I'll try tesco.

Thanks everyone, that's really helpful!

Anyone have any experiences of George Asda clothes? Or Primark?

I would move up, just a guide. I like sainsburys and they have loads in sale just now. Get a couple and try. I hate how some seem tiny as soon as washed. I got 6 pairs of leggings today for a fiver. She's 15 months but needing 18 to 24.

I find Sainsbury’s generous, although DD is long but their clothes are big on her chest and stomach. George is a little smaller than Sainsbury’s but not by much. I have a few primark outfits for DD and they are quite small, smaller than tesco. My mum has also picked some sleepsuits up from Aldi and B&M which were very generous around the middle and chest but I don’t know if they have outfits and if they do, how they compare to the sleepsuits/vests.

Haudyourwheesht · 17/05/2022 21:42

Morrisons clothes are big. I find Primark a bit on the small side if you're sizing up. Joules is also quite small sized.

Runkle · 17/05/2022 21:55

Primary can be small and boxy for tops but sizing up works - and they're cheap while they go through clothes so quickly!
George are generous. Sainsburys have 20% off baby/kids clothes atm.

bbqhulahoop · 17/05/2022 22:04

George Asda is massive on DD. She's 15 months and small for her age but I've only just retired the 6-9 month stuff

ricketybeauty · 17/05/2022 22:06

Matalan seem to be fairly generous round the tummy area - I have a chubby one too!

fossilsmorefossils · 17/05/2022 22:20

I find that I always have to size up the clothing before she reaches that age even though DD is a bit on the slim side. Maybe it's the length of her or wide shoulders or something like that??? I just size up in time.
