Formula Reaction - help!

My little boy has been EBF to 16 weeks and I have expressed for bottle feeding.
I have recently decided to start to transition to combi feeding and have introduced formula bottles. He has been hit or miss whether he would take them, I put this down to preference /hunger levels at the time. However he has recently started to get a red rash around his mouth as soon as he starts drinking the formula… could this be an allergy?

It’s most likely to be a cows milk allergy.

Yes, cows milk allergy most likely, my dd would get hives around her mouth and on her arms if they came into contact with the milk.

Can I ask why you are combi feeding? If you are combi feeding due to slow weight gain have you considered the possibility that a milk allergy might be preventing him from gaining weight? In which case you need to cut all dairy out of your diet and either stop the top-ups (if he appears to be latching well) or switch to a hypoallergenic formula.

I am trying to transition just for ease to be honest, finding the EBF quite overwhelming so people could help in the day or overnight with bottles.

I May just stick to breast for a few more months and then try again!
