Storch Wrap

Sorry to keep posting questions about slings - we need a baby wearing forum here!

Anyway I have been advised that a woven wrap will be longer lasting and this one has been suggested. Anyone got it or know what it is like?

Yes, I've got one. I like it very much, and it'll last you through to toddlerhood as it's totally tough and tank like. I use it with my 2.2 yr now 90th centile DS and it's great. Only drawbacks are, it's quite warm in summer, and there's not a huge colour selection.

Oh and the instructions are translated from German and some of the turns of phrase are a bit odd. I could only understand the nuances by turning them back into German. It isn't a problem though; just use the instructions for any other woven type wrap which are easily findable on the web.

How was it on your back? I suffer from a bad back so want something that will be ok for that. I am only allowed to get one sling so I have to choose well!

i've asked for that recently, stefka

storchs last forever. are super supportive and though not an extensive colour range, all are more beautiful IRL than on the computer. have you found out if there is alingmeet near you where you can tap the brain of local babywearers? they can really build your confidence and troubleshoot if you are having niggly problems.

saw your post about calin bleu gauze - won't be supportive after about a year. i suggest going for a storch now. by the time the summer is here, your baby will be older and you can wrap in simpler carries which utilise less fabric so less layers.

there is a healthy trade in 2nd hand slings on the yahoo group UKbabywearingSWAP.

hoppediz are also as supportive as storchs and didys but not as expensive as didys.

Thanks Kiskidee! I think I am pretty much settled on the Storch then. I will look into the second hand stuff too as am skint!

Would you say that the hoppediz is a better choice than the storch or are they pretty similar?

i am more fond of storchs over hopps purely for shallow reasons but then maybe there is a hopp out there that I would stroke. the Ulli, Inka and Anna are so pretty IRL.

spacemanspiff · 13/01/2008 21:03

I guess what I mean is that hopps are workhorses like storchs are but storchs are also very pretty as well as durable IME and shallow opinion. i am kiskidee btw.

Thanks again. I found a place where I can hire for a fiver so I might try that first. I wondered if it was good for breast feeding too? Although back support is more important for me as my back is killing me right now. I managed to convince DH that I need one so I can actually get it - yay!
