Difficult to wake baby from sleep

Hi,
My baby is 4 months old and this afternoon I couldn't wake her from her nap. It really really worried me and I'm still concerned and not sure if normal. She was in the car and I went to get her out and she wouldn't wake.
I was moving her hands, saying her name, tapping her, lifting her head etc. but it took about 45 seconds maybe for her to wake up.
Is this normal? I am really anxious anywaySad

How long had she been asleep and why were you waking her? At 4mo I would leave a baby to sleep until they woke naturally unless there was a specific health issue that indicated regular waking.

45 seconds is probably not that long in the scheme of things. It certainly takes longer to wake my teen... but I apreciate it felt like ages with such a young baby.

What made you wake her? As pp I rarely woke mine at that age - just made the most of the peace! Was she over heated or cold? Did she wake up fully in the end? She wasn't drousy for the rest of the afternoon? Either of mine at that age I wouldn't have worried about if they woke up fully - I'd just assume I'd disturbed a good sleep/dream! But you know your baby...

DS at that age wouldn't have wanted to wake up- it sounds perfectly normal. I used to carry him in, in the seat and leave him to wake up when he was ready.
Unless she is underweight and you need to wake to feed or her breathing sounds odd I would leave her be. It's such a worry all the time when they are tiny isn't it.

She was probably in a deep sleep. I don’t think you do wake a 4 month old, do you? I do remember checking if mine were breathing, but I don’t think I ever deliberately woke them up at that age!
