ds is fine with it now (he's 20mo) but when he was smaller i think it made him sick. we just used calpol instead. i know it doesn't make them sleepy but once the pain has stopped hopefully they go to sleep anyway. not tried the new calpol night-time though, that might be a good alternative to medised?

Surroundedbysnot · 13/01/2008 19:33

Ooooh! Calpol Night ... will get it tomorrow (Insanity has name-changed btw)

squix · 13/01/2008 19:34

Seems to make my DD hyper too.

MrsBigD · 13/01/2008 19:34

quite possible, our dd used to vomit on calpol. can second calpol night, if you can get your hands on it, seems since they've been advertising it on TV it's rare as!

choufleur · 13/01/2008 19:35

i think you have to get it from a pharmacist not just in a supermarket etc. hope it suits your LO.

Hello i am a health care advisor for well known high street healthcare retailer as well as being a mum and erm well if you read the ingredients you will find that medised and calpol night are actually the same... but i know when i gave my daughter piriton she redecorated her cot with vomit and she was over one.. i would suggest that as both items contain antihistamine (yes medised has a mild antihistamine) some young children will bring it back upfor some reason. Also look at the ingredients of calcold and calpol night.. its marketing they are exactly the same!!

rantinghousewife · 13/01/2008 22:31

Nurofen does this to my dd, no problems with medised though.

stinkymalinki · 14/01/2008 14:10

Medised has always caused my DS problems, but he's fine with Calpol Night (best invention ever IMHO), even though they are essentially the same thing.

Only thing is we only use half the recommended dose for his age group of the Calpol night, as the normal dose just zonks him for hours after morning wake-up.

QueenofAllWildThings · 14/01/2008 14:12

Doesn't make any difference to my DD - does clear up her snot if she has a cold, but doesn't make her sleep any better. She's hyper at the best of times, so hard to tell if Medised makes it worse!
