Following on from the New Year 'should I be wanting another child?' questions, I am expecting our 3rd child and now wondering what I've let myself in for. Dc3 due in July, just as ds1 and ds2 break up for the summer... time with ds2 as a baby was terribly difficult and I think the whole of the first year was a sleep-deprived haze. (He had severe reflux, but that's quite likely to happen again as it does run in families.)

So what should I be psyching myself up for this time? Are there things people don't tell you about having 3 that you wished they had? Should we get the loft conversion done beforehand or later? (I'm deadly serious about that, we have some reps coming round to take a look this weekend .)

over to you...

Congratulations Mummypig

I am also due end of July with DC3, have no words of wisdom really just wanted to congratulate you. I'd love to move somewhere bigger but not on the cards just yet. Feel slightly claustrophobic at thought of 3 under 3....

Congrats again!!! x

So far its pretty good! DS2 (dc3) is nearly 9 months now. DD is 7 and ds1 is 4 and started school in sept so think that makes life easier. It actually seemed abit easier than when ds1 was born because the older 2 could play with each other while I was (constantly) bfing ds2 so weren't hanging around me hassling me for things too much. And I'm more laid back this time because I have so many other things to think about and do I dont have time to worry and obsess over things.

Drawbacks are that ds2 gets less attention from me and the older dc. When ds1 was born dd used to play and perform for him quite often but now they play with each other and make alot noise. So have a feeling Ds2 may turn out to be pretty loud! He does like to watch them though and they play with him sometimes.

I love that the older 2 are at school now though so I have more time with just me and ds2 so I can give him more attention. Although it was nice to have the summer hols when he was little and not have to do the school run.

It is hard with the lack of sleep and I dont seem to have been able to nap in day like I did before but I think you just adjust.

And its 3rd time lucky, I can learn from my previous mistakes and do things better this time!

thanks Pesha, that all sounds pretty positive My boys are already fairly good at playing with each other although I frequently have to arbitrate in disputes. I guess they will have to learn to sort things out themselves a bit more if I'm preoccupied with feeding.

What did you do with them all in the summer? Around us it was pretty miserable so we didn't live in the park like we usually do. I've been worrying that most playschemes won't take ds2 as they seem to start at 5y not 4y, and ds1 will be too old for the few drop-in mum and toddler type things that run in the summer.

Thanks for the response
