Is this okay?? I take him out 2-3 classes a week but other days I have the tv on as we have a reactive dog so we don’t want complete silence or she barks when she hears a car door shut!!!

our house is open plan downstairs so it’s literally one room downstairs

is this okay I panicked as I read they shouldn’t have screen time until they’re 2? But sometimes I put kid stuff on and sing and laugh with him he seems to watch it and enjoy it

i feel really guilty

when my 4 year old was a baby I had the tv on constantly in the background 🙈and also worried. However, she was very early to talk, very bright, loves books etc so hasn’t affected her at all. I think as long as you are doing other stuff with them as well ie reading it’s not an issue.

Wait till you have a second child OP. By then Paw Patrol will be your best friend while you feed and settle an overtired baby.

RosesAndHellebores · 15/05/2022 12:14

I think music would be better op.
What else do you do except go to classes 2/3 times a week? Are you going out for walls, seeing other mum's, making friends at baby toddler groups, etc. Talking to the baby about the sky, leaves, flowers, colours, holding his hands to clap to the beat of the music?

Having to manage a Barky dog around a baby worries me more than the rest being on tbh.

Yep @Timeturnerplease ! Cartoons on all the time here! Newborn dd has to slot into preschooler ds' life.

It's fine OP. I have the telly on a lot because I like the noise. I also had a toddler when DD was born so she's had Hey Duggee on since birth lol.

NerrSnerr · 15/05/2022 12:44

It's absolutely fine. Enjoy being able to watch what you want before Peppa and Paw Patrol take over.

Are you joking about all the things the OP should be doing? Can't decide if it's tongue in cheek or not. 2-3 classes a week is absolutely fine- it doesn't deserve a comment to try and make her feel inadequate, 4 month olds just want to be with their parents.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it. We were exactly the same as you with a reactive dog and quiet. Caused no issues at all with DS and his development and I just watched/had on 'normal' things so not baby this either.

Expecting new parents to sit in silence all day is unreasonable and ridiculous
