have recently found out i’m expecting another baby - will be due in january and my first will be about 22 months so close to 2. not sure what to expect, will she still need a buggy? and if so what is a good double buggy on a budget please? i’ve looked at joie aire, a graco tandem one and a joie evalite duo - anyone have experience with any of these please? x

Look on Facebook marketplace you’ll probably get a bargain.

Using a sling for baby and buggy for toddler, or buggy for baby and buggy board for toddler could be cheaper options (assuming you already have a buggy!)?

Will you use a car or public transport? Bus or tube? You have lifts or have to carry the pram yourself? Long distances or occasionally only? You have large house or small flat? Elevator in your house or stairs or neither? Car boot size?

All of this matter. We have 17m difference, we used a pram we had with a buggy board, a scooter for the older one, and first few months pram for older and sling/wrap for baby. This was by far the fastest.

Now we also have a double buggy we got given (can be bought on marketplace for a bargain). For long family days out you want a double buggy, unless you drive everywhere and then carry them/walk only a short distance. I prefer the side-by-side but they are hard to get on public transport (and even into a car).

No it’s not parent facing, though you can purchase a carry cot to do that for a while, it’s a fantastic buggy for two children. Light enough to be able to steer one handed, small enough to fit through standard doorways.

yes i’ve looked and there’s loads of the joie evalite one near me so would probably get it secondhand but not sure if it’s good, most peoples descriptions of it say barely used which makes me wonder if it’s crap 😂

probably both. my car is small though so needs to be something that folds up and isn’t bulky - i do like the idea of a sling and pram or pram and buggy board but my problem is, the pram i have for my first isn’t suitable for a newborn, and when i tried a sling with her i was paranoid about her breathing as she would press her face against my chest constantly

oh i’ve seen this one! it does look quite good, thank you will have a good google of it! i’m not too fussed about parent facing as i can always peep over the top

BJCM twin, get one second hand. It's got a one handed fold, folds flat so good for car, huge seats so the older one can hop in as they get older, big sun shades, lie flat seats. You can get a bassinet for the baby but it is forward facing.

Get a Phil and Ted double with the cocoon bit for newborn. I used mine until eldest was five and youngest was 3.5. Best buggy ever!

Another vote for the Babyjogger city mini double, we still use ours on long days out and even my oldest who is a 7 year old can still fit well enough for a brief sit down.

Double buggies seem to be generally in very good condition 2nd hand, I think as most people don't use them for that long.

I use a mountain buggy double which I bought from FB marketplace. I don't completely love it but it is pretty good and only cost £150 secondhand.
