Toddler currently screaming at bedtime

DD is 2.5 and was a fantastic sleeper up until a couple of weeks ago. Now she screams at the baby gate at the door. I've been silently taking her back to bed for the last hour. Initially she settles but as soon as I leave the room she becomes hysterical again - screaming that she needs cuddles.

What do I do? Keep up the silently bringing her back to bed? Or let her cry it out? I'm at my wits end. DH is away, I have more work to do, I'm hungry, and I don't see an end in sight Sad

@Bornsloppy I honestly didn't expect the toddler stage to be this hard - give me a newborn any day of the week Confused

I'm reading this thread with interest as my twins are going through the same at the moment and are about the same age.

The other day somebody said to me "ahh, I bet it's much easier for you now they're that bit older"
I could have screamed at them!
You're so right, the newborn stage was nothing compared to this Gin

Oh my goodness twins must be so hard, @AugustSeptemberOctober. I'm definitely struggling right now. Toddlerhood is so . . . extreme. And irrational. Unreasonable. And physical too - the flailing and crashing around. It's too much Blush

I'd always cuddle as I think sometimes they do genuinely need us
