Tics

Hi, I posted about my nearly 5 year old daughter before. She had so many meltdowns and lately have been calming down a bit. All fine at school - so the school say. She has sleep apnea and we are looking to book a surgery for that shortly.
Since last week she has been displaying tics. They are shoulder and hand movements. We have asked to speak to school. I have a GP appointment tomorrow and have found a play therapist. But I am so distressed by this. I know not to mention it to her and draw attention. I feel so panicked this will stay like this. She does it constantly . She doesn’t want to go to school and cries at drop offs. I hope it’s nothing there. We spoke to school a few weeks back but they said she’s happy there and she does love her teacher and friends.

Help anyone? Thank you for reading.

Any other issues? People with asd, adhd, Tourette's , sensory issues can have tics also could be anxiety or even just a habit. And probably other conditions not on my radar. Own of my dc developed a habit cough. It went away on its own after a few months. You are right not to make an issue of it.

My dd developed twitch tics around that age always gets worse round April, after a couple of years looking at patterns , and being ignored, we figured it could be hayfever/histamine related, doc prescribed fexofenadine , problem solved . Could be placebo effect ("the medicine is to help stop the twitch") or it could be the twitch was a symptom... who knows. She's 22 and has grown out of it now. Was mainly age 4 to 11, from age 6 she had antihistamine April to Sept which managed the tics at their worst.

Thank you for your replies.
No other underlying conditions. I am thinking this is linked to her sleeping disorder. Speaking to GP tomorrow.

@Poyyu23 Hi Poyyu, I was wondering how your daughter is now? My 8 year old ds has got tics and I'm finding it very hard coming to terms with it.
