Treating a sickness bug?

My eldest child almost died a couple of years ago after having a sickness bug and being rushed to hospital with dehydration and dangerously low blood sugars. She was unresponsive.

It occurred after an evening of vomiting, followed by a day of sipping plain water and not eating anything.

I currently now have my youngest child who is the same age that she was when it happened who is throwing up through the night. She's now been sick 4 times. She just wants to sleep, but I'm terrified of the same thing happening again. Do I keep waking her to give fluids with rehydration fluids or let her sleep? I'm a nervous wreck as it's brought back awful memories and my husband is nonchalantly saying "just let her sleep, she'll be fine." He clearly has a much shorter memory than I do and isn't as traumatised.

She's not really drank anything since the first bout of vomiting at 10pm. I've syringed 10ml of water into her mouth whilst half awake but that's it.

Please advise. My husband is of no support or understanding.

I’ve lollies are good because they are mainly water but they have sugar in them etc for a wee bit energy. If your worried phone out of hour though for advice x

It's really really rare for children to be hospitalised for a sickness bug. Your eldest was very unlucky. DD has thrown up a lot more times for a lot longer and been fine.

That said, don't wake her but in the morning try lollies, ice chips, any treat diluted (in our house that would be Ribena). Just sips. Also watery fruit like watermelons can be good.
