Whats for breakfast?

Feckingfeck · 06/05/2022 09:31

DD (11 months) has fallen into a rut of having the same breakfast most days....

Toast and a fruit pouch.

She likes most things but has a small appetite. She can eat about half a piece of toast and never really manages a fill pouch of ellas food.

Any breakfast suggestions?

What are you or your DC having?

How much should she be eating?

LO is 12 months. Porridge is our go to breakfast, i add different things to it to add variety-
Banana, blueberries, raspberries, grated apple/ pear usually or she loves desiccated coconut added to it too.

We also have toast but again vary the toppings- avocado, cream cheese, no sugar peanut butter and just discovered almond butter which we both love

occasionally she might have wheatabix but the variety comes from the toppings/ what goes with it for us

Porridge fingers are good because they can eat them with minimal help or mess, as are sugar free blueberry donuts ( for a treat).
Shreddies or Weetabixgreek yoghurt and berries
Crumpets

Weetabix, Shredded wheat or porridge generally.
Sometimes banana pancakes or eggy bread at the weekend.

We still do porridge and banana most days for Ds age 2. He likes it and it’s healthy enough so I go with it. He doesn’t seem to mind lack of variety

At that age DD had weetabix or bitesize shredded wheat most days with some form of bread -toast, crumpet, croissant, pancake, fruit toast etc. Usually some berries too or some banana. I tried porridge but she hated it.

She’s 2.5 now and has Shreddies/Cheerios/Rice crispies and toast usually at nursery. On non nursery days she often has greek yoghurt with honey and fruit and toast or bagel with marmite or peanut butter.

Weetabix was our go to.

I've never changed it as don't see the point of messing around with breakfast.

1yo has Weetabix or toast plus fruit
4yo has cereal of his choice (cornflakes this morning), fruit and a slice of toast.

This morning DD had porridge with 3 squares of dark chocolate and raspberries.
the boys had half a raisin and cinnamon bagel each and some strawberries.

Why don't you just give proper fruit instead of a pouch? DD has toast and fruit, or cereal and fruit, or porridge and fruit.

My kids have nearly always had shreddies. I’ll do those banana and egg pancakes with fruit and yoghurt on a weekend if I wake up with a random energy burst.

She has tried some today, and she loved it.

Its usually easier to get more calories in a small amount as she cant eat much (and is tiny)

Thanks for the suggestions everyone 🙂
