What age did you stop using a baby monitor to keep an eye on your LO when they're sleeping?

My two are two and three and we still use the monitor. They can't come downstairs

Never used one, I just made sure the TV was low enough to hear her.

They can't come downstairs alone if there's a problem and we can't hear them without it. I guess you stop using it when they are able to safely come downstairs if the are upset.

We never used one

Oh we still have one and Ds is 3 😂 it gets switched off when we go to bed though, it’s just for when we’re downstairs.

My baby monitor broke shortly after her first birthday. I didn’t bother replacing it after I realised I didn’t really need it because I can hear her anyway. The only drawback to this is I can’t really go out in the garden when she’s sleeping.

We still use one and DS is three, he's old enough to come and find us in the night but he just won't get out of bed once he's in it, even if he's feeling scared or ill. Once he starts getting out of his own accord we will ditch it. It's quite handy having it though if I want to do some gardening after he goes to bed.

DS is six and he insists that I continue to use it, he says he likes knowing that Mummy can see him from her bedroom. He also likes it when I speak to him through it, it is handy when he wakes up at 4am and starts playing with his toys, I can speak through the monitor to tell him to get back into bed!

If it breaks I won't replace it, if DS doesn't want it on anymore it will go but at the moment it comforts him at night (we used to co-sleep until his brother came along then there just wasn't room in the bed for us all so he agreed to his own bed).
