Calpol...

So my 6month old baby has been very cuddly these last couple of days, any way we've been out all day yesterday came home and he went to bed at 8 like always, but he was extremely tired thought it was because we had a busy day. He woke up at 11 was very unsettled and felt warm, this is very unlike him he's been sleeping through since he was about 12 weeks.

Got to 12 and checked his temp it was 38 so gave him 2.5 ml didn't realise I'm supposed to give him 5ml now he's just turned 6 months, he then woke up again at 4:30 temperature 38.5, just gave him 5ml and it's slowly coming down and he's smiling away at me right now.

Just wondering how I go about the next 2 doses if he needs them during the day? I don't want to leave him with a high temperature?

I would strip baby to cool down before giving the next dose. You might not need it. He will be ok in a long sleeved vest and nappy or something light.

I agree with PP make sure he isn't over dressed. Check the instructions but I'd give him them if his temperature is still high personally.

If you space out dosing to 6 hours apart there will never be a chance of giving too much in a 24 hour period

Thankyou everyone, I stripped him down he had a vest on and his pj top, he usually sleeps in a sleeping bag so I gave him a thin blanket instead he's woke up currently drinking his bottle seems abit better, no temp as of yet

You don't need to give calpol just because he has a fever. A fever is the body's way of fighting an infection.

I only give calpol if they're actually feeling rubbish with it, otherwise if it's just a fever but they seem ok in themselves I let the fever do its job.

Yeah he wasn't being himself at all getting upset wouldn't let me put him down, can tell he's not feeling the best
