Help! Flying with 7 month old 🙏

Hi guys, do you guys have some tips for flying with a baby? We just flew out to Italy, it was only an 1.5 hr long flight, but I feel traumatized from the experience. We’re flying back tomorrow, and I’m scared. For the first half an hour, she screamed and cried straight, then dad put her to sleep for a bit, but back to screaming. I swear, I never seen a baby that loud. She became very cranky since she turned 6months old, I think the teething and solid food are throwing her upside down. Some good advices would be appreciated!!!

Feed her on take on and landing. Babies can't equalise their pressure in their ears easily so give her a bottle or boob and that should help.

Are you breastfeeding? If so, feeding during take off and landing can help relieve the pain in their ears from changing pressure.

At that age, we did a lot of marching up and down the aisle on longer flights (7-9 hours). If the flight is only 1.5 hours though then worst case scenario she’ll just scream again… these things happen, and at least no one will be trying to sleep!

Breast or bottle at take off and landing
or a pacifier if she has one… they cannot regulate the pressure and their ears hurt
sucking helps them

Oh dear. I flew on an 11 hour flight with my son at 3 months and he was a dream. We have another 4 hour flight coming up soon when he will be 7 months so hopefully won't have the same experience! Did you feed on take off and landing? Maybe download some kids YouTube videos as a distraction?

Feed or dummy to suck on for take offand landing to make sure their ears pop. And then when we took DD at that age we just did what we would do at home, depending on time she would sleep for takeoff/landing plus a bit, then a bit of a play with some toys, passher betwren parents, watched some cocomelon on the kindle as a distraction, fed her etc

Feed feed feed.

BF (if you can) at take off and landing, and have snacks to distract all the way through.

I flew with DD at 8 months and she was a dream - I'm not saying that to be smug, just reassuring you that next time might be better!

Try to keep to normal routine as much as you can. For example, night flight if the baby will feed then sleep., exploit that
n my experience, our two drank more on flights than they normally would in daily life.

SnoozeShade too was really helpful in the cabin, and promoted faster sleep onboard (coupled with feeding). We were bringing SnoozeShade anyhow for the buggy at our destination.

Try some type of Ipad for your baby!
