MUMS! Please help!!
my son started Nursery 4 weeks ago and has been sick ever since - which in turn is making the whole household sick. Its Ludacris - we don't know what to do. Does any one have any tips on not getting ill your self when the little ones are always unwell.... any advice welcome.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi, We had this for the first six months of nursery. Apparently it's normal, though it was very frustrating. I believe taking vitamin C and zinc help (for you, not your son!), as well as getting as much sleep as possible.

I don't know how to catch my son's viruses any less but I've got better at treating my cold symptoms. Nasal spray rather than nasal inhaler or sudafed has been a game changer for me. It clears up all my sinuses so well that I don't feel like I have a cold anymore.

I knew when I clicked on the thread that this would be about recently starting nursery!

Unfortunately our run of illnesses lasted at least 4 months, including two sickness bugs, hand foot & mouth, 2 colds, bronchiolitis, 2 mystery viral rashes. It was back to back illness and by the time DD passed it onto me and I recovered she'd moved onto the next one.

The only positive I can give you is that things improved massively after this and we both seem a lot more robust nowadays (touch wood)!

Oh and the only tip I can think to give to try and avoid you all getting ill is to have all the windows open a crack for ventilation (the stats on how this reduces Covid transmission were quite impressive.)

Honestly you just have to get on with it. It gets better but it's shit.

My daughter started nursery in November and we've all been constantly sick since! We've all had hand, foot and mouth, norovirus twice, bronchitis twice, she's got a constant runny nose, viral hip thing from another cough, random temperatures, sore throats, eye infections and a cough that now needs 2 inhalers to manage. It's been a bloody nightmare. Benylyn day and night is the best thing I've found for me to keep my head above water. Good luck!

Thanks for the Tips and advice all!!! Nice to know we aren't alone. We'll just power through and hope it's just a temporary phase. 💪
