6 month old has their first tooth just poking through. Should I start brushing now or wait till it's fully erupted?

Personally I'd start right now @lalallola Smile

I started rubbing toothpaste on the gums before the teeth came through. Dentist advised me to do that. As the teeth are like razors I would suggest not use your fingers to rub the toothpaste now. Let them to play with the toothbrush, with a small amount of paste for a couple of days, to get used it, then start brushing. Lightly, but thoroughly, all over the gums as well as the tooth. That way you will catch the new teeeh as they come through.

I really recommend those silicon brushes you wear on your finger, my dd preferred those for ages and didn't like a real toothbrush till more recently

(I'm sorry I don't know why that link is so long lol!! But it seems to work tho!)

Start now, get 2 brushes and give them a toothbrush and a little paste to hold / chew and you use a second brush and start brushing the tooth and gums.

We started brushing teeth (or more accurately, gums as mine had no teeth until almost 12months) at around 6 months, when we started weaning as part of a bedtime routine & as we were introducing flavours anyway, it seemed somewhat fitting 🤷🏼‍♀️
