Wetting through at night

Hi, we have 8.5 month old who, for the last few nights, has been waking up somewhere around midnight having wet through nappy, vest and sleeping bag so we have to change everything and then he wants milk to re settle (we are trying to stop overnight milk but that's another story).

He is a small baby, just 8kg, but nearly ready for next size up nappy so put the bigger size 4 nappy on tonight in case it was that but it's happened again. He does like to sleep on his side and the side he sleeps on is the side that is wet. We have tried pampers baby dry size 4 tonight, he is still in new baby size 3 in the day.

Any tips on what I can do to stop this, is there a good nappy that I should try? I think if this didn't happen he would be sleeping through, or at least not waking up needing a whole change of everything.

Thanks

Hey! So pampers are a good nappy, but it may be a case of trial and error to find the right ones for your DS.
A tip I found was check the sizing of the vests you're putting him in - if they are on the tighter size they can squeeze the nappy and make them leak- IME its often that x

You're going to have to try different nappies. My daughter is great in pampers but they didn't suit my boys at all, both of them were better in Aldi nappies. Boys are trickier in my expert and leak more so it's a bit trial and error I'm afraid!

You can get plus nappies in most sizes. They're more absorbant. So stick with the size that fits and then try the 3+ or 4+ or whatever size. If you just go up the sizes they won't fit around the legs so you'll get leaks anyway.

My DS had the Sainsbury's Nutmeg ones which worked well for him.

Oh, I mean Sainsburys Little Ones or Morrisons Nutmeg. We used both (when he was older though as we used reusable for the first two years).

Try putting a pull-up over the nappy.

Thanks everyone, we have tried Aldi nappies before and he leaked through them all the time but will try some others again and definitely look at the vests, thank you!

My little boy did this. I used double nappies or I put a incontinence pad type thing in the nappy 🙈

Cloth nappies?

Both of mine wore cloth and if you buy proper night nappies which basically have additional boosters, often made of bamboo which is super absorbant and pair them with with either a waterproof wrap or fleece or wool bottoms, you’ll not get any leaks.

The first time we used fleece and wool I was convinced I was going to wake up to a soaking bed because it doesn't make sense, there's no plastic waterproof layer. But I didn't. They both worked amazingly and the bed was completely dry.

The outlay of them is about £15 to £20 per nappy and I'd recommend having at least three so you have time to wash and dry (just chuck them straight in the washing machine, it's only wee, no different to the sheets and pj's you're washing at the moment), but compare that to what you'd spend on disposables that you then find don't work at night and you'll find you're better off.
