Screaming!!

I've posted before about 5month DD and her generally having been a high needs baby. All that is ongoing including her being a velcro baby, not sleeping well etc
Well the last few days she has very much discovered her voice.
She screams and screeches whenever awake, the loudest most high pitched noise I have honestly ever heard.
Shes not crying when she does it and carries on doing it through activities she enjoys such has having a bath.
Calpol and ibuprofen also don't make any difference,

Today I have honestly been worried someone passing by may report that they think she isn't OK as it's so loud and prolonged.

Is this normal? Is there something I'm missing? Are my expectations all wrong? My ears are literally ringing as if I've been to a rock concert and I'm dreading tomorrow, I'm worried about going out as nothing stops her screeching.

Do you still have a hearing check when they are babies? Do you think they can hear?

Sounds like my granddaughter. Somedays I think my ears will bleed.

Like pretty much all baby stuff, some do and some don't.
Not a lot you can do about it.
(There will be a new hellish phase soon enough. )

Get her hearing checked, thats how my parents found out I was partially deaf. Of course it might not be that at all but worth checking.

Most babies find their voice at some stage, and once they do it's fucking ear-splitting for a while until the novelty wears off.

Think of it as she's discovered she can do something- she can make a BIG, LOUD, noise! It's fun! She can do it whenever she wants!

If you were a 5 month old baby and couldn't go where you want, do what you want or ask for what you want wouldn't you enjoy the new-found freedom of learning how to shriek like a tormented parrot?

It'll pass. And then it will come back months later after you've just finished telling people 'oh yes, I'm so glad DD doesn't do the ungodly screaming anymore that she used to'.
