Cow & Gate Infant Milk makes 4mo violently ill

Hi all, first ever post on here :)

DD2 is 4mo and bf. She rarely has a bottle, but the last two times she has been very poorly 2-3hrs later - vomiting huge amounts for an hour or so until she's just dry retching (so definitely not just reflux). Both times she's fallen asleep afterwards (it's been in the evening when she's in bed) then taken her night feed as normal with no repercussions. The first time she did a big diarrhoea nappy during the episode, the second time she did poo but not 100% sure it was diarrhoea as there wasn't much of it and her poo is liquidy anyway as she is bf... Sorry if tmi! She's not had a rash or fever either time, and has been well in herself otherwise (as traumatic as it is for us!).

The first time it happened she mainly had expressed breast milk during the day with a little formula before bed, so we assumed maybe the breast milk hadn't been stored correctly; however the second time she'd only had the formula. Both times she'd only had 100ml or so of ready made Cow & Gate Infant Milk.

It seems to be too much of a coincidence that this happened after the formula so I'm trying to work out if it's an allergy or intolerance. I've spoken to a HV who was fairly useless and said to go to a GP. I have a GP appointment but not for another 3wks, by which time DD will be 5 months, which only leaves a month until she starts solids. If she has an allergy I'd ideally need to know by then, so I guess I'm going to have to brave it and try a different formula.

Has anyone else had issues with Cow & Gate and had success with another brand? I know all infant milk has the same ingredients but it is my understanding that they can be made differently - apparently Cow & Gate and Aptamil (both made by Danone) are fermented to promote good bacteria, which may not be well tolerated by some babies. Is there a particular brand not made in this way that is known for being gentle on the tummy?

FYI I have a regular diet including dairy. She is quite a refluxy baby but it has improved over time, so don't think my milk affects her in the same way.
