I’ve got this later in the week…wondering if anyone can give info on what exactly happens?

I had one fairly recently it involved answering lots of questions around my general health pre pregnancy, during pregnancy and since. Discussion of the birth and any after effects, there was a lot of questions I hadn't expected to go through in so much detail. The physio looked at my body, posture, movement etc, felt my stomach and scar (c-section) and suggested feeling my pelvic floor (inserting a finger to feel the muscle) but I decided against that as I wasn't fully expecting it and was I was due my period that day. After I was sent a brief report and a list of things to do- exercises and massage etc. I'd expect something similar but you could call and ask if you want to know what will happen?

As above, be prepared for examination inside and out (luckily a friend had told me so I went prepared!) I found it very thorough and useful.

Never heard of one. Do they bill you £30??

I'm in the UK and very little happened at mine...a little pointless for me really.

I've had two (after each of my two births) with two different physios but similar experiences. Very thorough internal exam which checked scar tissue/healing of tear/stitches and pelvic floor function. All a bit weird at the time but you have a sheet over you for modesty and just like nurses and midwives the physio does this every day and has seen it all before! Also checked for diastasis recti, looked at posture, breathing, watched me do all sorts of different movements to see how different joints has been affected by pregnancy and birth - it was extremely thorough. I would recommend a mummy mot to anyone postpartum - although I can't stand the cringey name. Wish you could get something comparable on the NHS.

Mummy MOT IS available in the NHS!!! It's not something that is shouted about, but it IS available for 6 sessions on the NHS. Find a local provider, ask if they have an NHS contract and then tell your GP to refer you to them.
