What to do with 6 month old when getting ready/showering?

Currently I put my baby in her baby bouncer but I'm anxious to stop using this once she is six months old as I know it's not good to use them. Just not sure what to else do with her during this time?

Cot/playmat/jumperoo

Have a shower when she's asleep in her cot. Or as long as there's nothing dangerous on the floor, just put her on the floor where you can see her.

ApolloandDaphne · 18/04/2022 17:51

I used to pop mine in their cot to have a shower. Even if they were crying a bit I felt it was better for me to be washed, dressed and ready to cope with the day.

Cot / travel cot / play pen.

I have a small ensuite and would just put them on the floor (nothing else on the floor other than the bath mat) and had the door shut.

buckingmad · 18/04/2022 17:53

Mine sits on bath mat or I time it with a nap

Bornsloppy · 18/04/2022 18:03

Bathroom floor, though had to stop that when we reached the "putting hand in toilet" stage
In cot with toys
In cot asleep

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 18/04/2022 18:06

Another on the floor with toys, or in his cot

SirLottie · 18/04/2022 18:06

I popped mine in the shower with me, she loved playing in the water

tothemoonandbackbuses · 18/04/2022 18:06

I used the baby bouncer for as long as possible and then a baby walker. They didn’t use the baby walker much but it was handy for 10 mins a day to shower

SunshineAndFizz · 18/04/2022 18:13

In a bumbo style seat, with Mr Tumbles playing on the iPad would give me 15 mins for a shower. Some friends got a second high chair upstairs (like the £18 IKEA ones) and brought that into the bathroom (or if space was tight, just outside the bathroom with the door open).

redhillrovers · 18/04/2022 18:16

I waited until the first morning nap or you can use a playpen or toys in the cot?

Partypoooooper · 18/04/2022 18:25

Mine didn't sleep if she wasn't on someone so I had a bath with her.

Perpop · 18/04/2022 18:27

I put her dry, empty baby bath on the floor and she plays in it

InTheResistance · 18/04/2022 18:28

What baby bath do you have? I used to sit mine up in the shnuggle while I was showering. She was quite happy, I could keep an eye on her and, most importantly, she couldn't escape! I miss those days now she's nearly two and never stops running...

Feeellostindirection · 18/04/2022 18:31

Had a travel cot in the bedroom with toys in, so like a mini play pen, they used to go in that

RunnerDuck2020 · 18/04/2022 18:33

Mine won’t sleep unless someone is holding him so I wait until he’s fed and changed and happy to play on his own for a bit and either pop him in his cot with some toys or in his playpen.

jupitermars1345 · 18/04/2022 18:42

I get up and do it before my other half goes to work at 7am
I just feel better that way

BertieBotts · 18/04/2022 18:51

You can use the bouncer. You'll know when it becomes a safety issue. They say six months but that's a rough guide, the real answer is "when they start leaning out of it or bouncing it so energetically that the whole thing moves across the floor"

Sunnytwobridges · 18/04/2022 18:52

Play pen or crib

TulipsGarden · 18/04/2022 18:54

Cot with toys and books. He was happy in there while I showered until around 2, then we added Cbeebies on the tablet to keep him occupied.

mossflower · 18/04/2022 18:56

I had one of those door bouncers which I clipped onto the bathroom door. I don't think they're that popular these days due to potential hip issues but I didn't think 10 mins a few times a week was really going to cause many issues. And it was only 2 or 3 times a week, at the weekend, DH was around and sometimes during the week I'd shower before he left, whilst DD was napping or after a gym class whilst she was still in the crèche.

luxxlisbon · 18/04/2022 19:22

I just shower in the evening when baby is in bed or DH is with her. Very easy to get into the routine and it speeds up your mornings so much.
At 6 months I just sat her on the bed with a basket of toys while I got dressed and did a bit of makeup.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 18/04/2022 19:26

High chair in h bathroom sometimes with a few toys!

Or else I jump in before husband left for work or at the 9am nap
