Are babies that are born small more likely to have colic?

Due to be induced with DS today, like DD I am being induced due to IGUR. I’m 37+2 so he is full term however his growth has been decreasing.
Sat here with a million thoughts through my head. So excited to meet my baby boy but I’m also nervous. DD had awful colic when she was a newborn and barely slept day or night. Is there any link to small babies and colic? Or is it just one of those things? DD was also full term, arriving at 39 weeks.

Ds term 7lb 7 had colic
Dd 6 weeks premature 4lb 5 didn’t have colic (but did have jaundice and was in hospital following birth)

I get the fear of colic is very real and strong. Hopefully you won’t be struck with it again. Dd not having colic was very healing for me!

4lb 12oz boy 36 weeks no colic. Have a wonderful time meeting your boy.

I read so much around colic when DS developed it, because I was absolutely desperate. There is a speculative link between low birth weight and colic, but absolutely no firm evidence. Basically the answer to any question involving colic is ‘we don’t know’.

Good luck with your induction and I have everything crossed that you don’t suffer a colicky newborn again Flowers
