Should I be worried re the fact I cleaned cat litter tray?

Hello,

Wondering if anyone out there can help put my mind at rest! I’m a real worrier so wondering if I am being over dramatic or if it’s genuine cause for concern.

My partner and I are in between house moves so offered to cat sit for my parents while they are away for a couple of weeks. My boyfriend has been very good at clearing up cat poo / changing the litter as I’ve read all about toxoplasmosis although on one occasion last week I did wash out the actual tray - glove-less, as I just thought, what are the chances? I washed my hands thoroughly afterwards although now a week or so later I can’t help thinking about it!

Am I going mad thinking I’ve caught it from washing out the tray once, despite washing and sanitising my hands thoroughly after? It’s probably accelerated by the fact I’ve got a cold and headache so feeling quite poorly at the moment and putting 2 and 2 together. I’m 36 weeks pregnant, so baby is likely fully cooked as it were, and I’ve lived with cats my whole life (my parents have always rescued cats).

How common is it really - I have my 36 week appt with midwife tomorrow, should I ask for a test?

Did you eat any of the cat poo, or inhale the poo particles? If not, then I think chances are low. Cats have to actually have the virus (indoor cats apparently less likely) and if you washed your hands meticulously after and didn't let the poo sit in the tray for more than a day, then I think chances are extremely low (I'm sure I read fresh poo is not a risk)

Ps - I was obsessed with this when I was pregnant, and constantly second guessed myself so please don't feel alone in worrying - I spoke to the vet about it even and they said that it wasn't very easy to catch and they didn't know any other vets who had caught it whilst pregnant x
