Nearly 4 yr olds diet.. is this ok?

Hi everyone,

My little one will not eat much when he wakes up, so typically he wakes around 7 and gets a cup of milk and a bowl of fruit around 7.30.

By 9.30-10 he is hungry for something more substantial so I usually do scrambled eggs/omelett or maybe beans on toast or something to get a protein hit in him.

Lunch is around 1/1.30 and is usually fishfingers and peas/cheese on toast/tuna baked tattie. If we’ve had pasta bake or similar left over from the night before then he’ll have that.

Snacks around 4pm ish or whenever he says he is hungry and usually offer more fruit and maybe a yogurt/cheese on crackers/plain popcorn

Dinner is usually homemade (although not always) and his faves are roast chicken dinner, Spag Bol, hunters chicken, cottage pies etc

He will rarely eat cold lunches so things like wraps/sandwiches etc can be made but will go untouched. If I try and offer cereal or toast earlier at breakfast it again won’t get eaten so I just give him fruit as I know he enjoys that and then something more filling later.. Is this ok? Not everyday but he does get the odd kinder egg or he loves a Jaffa Cake but is this a reasonable diet as he can be fussy? :s

Thanks

I think this sounds fine, quite good really. I think as long as they're not hungry and eating healthy foods that's good. Are they okay, happy and healthy? If so I'd carry on :)

My DC never got into sandwiches much but has recently, they enjoy wraps etc now which makes lunch boxes easier.

It's fine for now but in a year you'll need to be in a very different place as it will be breakfast then school. So I'd start working towards it! Earlier breakfast, earlier lunch and earlier dinner. Is he eating too much right before bed and therefore not hungry on wake up?

Thank you ❤️ Yes he is happy and healthy and it works for us this way.

It does worry me that next year he will be at school and won’t be able to eat to this schedule. He will need to have something filling before he leaves. At the moment, he is home full time (although he does go horse riding/acro class/swimming) so it works for us but I am aware by next Summer there needs to be a change.
